Wolves agree terms with Middlesbrough for Rob Edwards

Wolves have agreed a compensation package with Middlesbrough for head coach Rob Edwards.

Edwards emerged as the club’s top target to replace Vitor Pereira, who was sacked last week following a winless start to the Premier League campaign.

Wolves have now agreed a £2m compensation package with Middlesbrough for Edwards, according to The Athletic, with the 42-year-old set to sign a three-and-a-half year contract at Molineux.

Edwards was only appointed at Middlesbrough in June, but is now set to depart, with the Championship club sat second in the second tier.

His appointment at Wolves will mark a return to the club, having made 111 appearances for Wolves during his playing career. Discussions are ongoing over Edwards’ coaching staff.

Edwards will inherit a Wolves side who are 20th in the Premier League, having failed to win in their opening 11 games. Wolves are currently eight points from safety.
