Liverpool ready to reward midfielder with new long-term deal

Liverpool are planning to offer Dominik Szoboszlai a new contract as a reward for the midfielder’s impressive form.

Szobosozlai has been a standout performer for Arne Slot’s side this season and the Reds are keen to recognise his importance with a new deal.

The Hungary international has scored twice and provided four assists in 14 appearances across all competitions, starting every fixture in the Premier League and Champions League. In the latter competition, he is the joint-leader for assists (3).

Journalist Nicolò Schira is reporting that Liverpool plan to extend Szoboszlai with a new contract that will run until 2030 or 2031.

His current terms expire in 2028 and the Reds are keen to avoid a repeat of the situation that saw Trent Alexander-Arnold run down his deal last summer. Liverpool also have Ibrahima Konate out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

Szoboszlai has made 109 appearances for the Premier League champions since joining from RB Leipzig in 2023.
