Ruben Amorim says Amad Diallo has the “potential to do better” after the youngster saved a point for Man Utd against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.Â
The 23-year-old fired in a brilliant strike late in the second half to earn a draw for the Red Devils after they surrendered a lead at the City Ground.
Casemiro headed the visitors in front from a corner in the 34th minute, although the Forest players argued the corner should not have been given in the first place as the ball may not have crossed the endline.
Sean Dyche’s side hit back with two quickfire goals after the interval to go ahead. Morgan Gibbs-White outmuscled Amad to head home and Nicolo Savona tapped in moments later.
Amad’s equaliser means that United have avoided defeat in their last four Premier League matches as they moved up to sixth in the table.
“If I think about game, we lost control for five minutes,” Amorim told BBC Match of the Day. “I feel in the recent past if we had had this situation (from 1-0 up and 2-1 down) we would have struggled so much more than today.
“My feeling is we played well but we dropped a little bit of energy. When we have the full energy we are the better team. My players are giving everything but we have the potential to do better.
“Sometimes we have these moments. In the end we lost two points and we need to get three points in the next game.”
Amorim says Man Utd starlet Amad Diallo ‘can do so much better’
On Amad, Amorim added:Â “Amad has a lot of talent. We have a lot of players who are young and talented. He can be so much better and be more consistent. You could see in first half he had some opportunities. He has potential to do better.”
