Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that both William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli have been ruled out of the Brighton game through injury.
The sides face off at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday for a place in the quarter-finals of the League Cup, with kickoff slated for 7.45pm BST.
The Gunners were left with a number of injury concerns after their 1-0 home victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday.
Arsenal dealt Saliba and Martinelli injury blow ahead of Brighton
Neither Saliba or Martinelli will feature against the Seagull after picking up injuries at the weekend. Saliba was subbed off at halftime, while Martinelli could be seen limping down the tunnel at the end of the game.
Arteta could not give a timeframe on the French defender’s return to action. “We are assessing him, but he won’t be involved. Looks as well that he [Martinelli] is going to be out. We are going to have to do a few more tests, but looks that this game will come too early.”
Arsenal are already dealing with a number of injuries in their squad, with captain Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke, Gabriel Jesus and Ben White also on the treatment table.
There was some positive news for the north London outfit, though, as Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and Riccardo Calafiori have all been cleared to play in midweek.
Rice was forced off with an injury in the second half of the Palace game and Calafiori came off at the same time. Saka was also subbed off early after he dealt with an illness last week.

Arteta provided an update on White, who he revealed has suffered a setback in his recovery.
“He had a setback and that hasn’t helped,” he said. “It was an injury that kept him out for a few weeks and we had to manage his load. The reason why he’s not been playing is to manage that; he’s in a good place now, he’s been training more recently and his feeling has been very good.
“When Ben is at the level that he can show, he’s a top player for us, a player that drives the team in a different way, gives us a different threat on that flank as well, and we need him at his best.”
