Memphis Depay starred as the Netherlands beat Finland 4-0 to move closer to World Cup qualification on Sunday.
The Dutch eased to a comfortable win with Depay scoring the third from the penalty spot after creating the opening two goals for Donyell Malen and Virgil van Dijk.
Depay’s goal took him to 54 goals for the Oranje, having eclipsed Robin van Persie as the Netherlands’ all-time record scorer earlier this year. The Corinthians forward also now holds the record for the most assists in his nation’s shirt.
The 31-year-old’s brace of assists against Finland took him to 35 for his country, eclipsing the previous mark set by Wesley Sneijder. Depay has 89 goals and assists in 106 caps for the Netherlands and will now set his sights on Sneijder’s appearance record.
The former Inter Milan midfielder made 134 appearances for the national side between 2003 and 2018.
