Amorim ‘frustrated’ despite Man United win over Sunderland

Ruben Amorim admits it is “frustrating” that Man United can’t replicate their performances at Old Trafford when they play away after beating Sunderland on Saturday.

Mason Mount opened his account for the season seven minutes after kickoff, before Benjamin Sesko doubled their lead on the half hour mark.

United have now won three home Premier League games on the bounce, but are yet to win on the road.

Amorim was happy to see his side come out victorious and gain three valuable points, but wants to see more consistency on their travels.

“I think we did well, it wasn’t the perfect performance,” he told Sky Sports. “We had our moments, but during the game we were competitive and stayed focused in every detail.

“Those are the kind of wins the big teams should have, the game is not perfect, sometimes the opponent has the ball, but we are focused and know what to do. Getting a clean sheet is good.

“In our recent past when things go well in the beginning of the game, we can maintain the level, When something goes against us we suffer a lot. We need to improve on that.

“It’s a bit frustrating to see my team playing like this at home but not playing the same away from home.”

After a difficult start to life at Man United in which Sesko failed to find the net in his first six appearances for the club, the Slovenian striker now has two goals in two league games.

“It’s really important for him, he lives for the goals,” Amorim said. “It’s important to take out all that pressure he has. Every time we kicked the ball Ben was there to run and connect. I am really happy for him.”
