Some big signings could make their Premier League debuts for new clubs this weekend, as England’s top flight returns after the international break.
Piero Hincapie (Arsenal)
Mikel Arteta has turned Arsenal into arguably Europe’s best defensive side and the Gunners have further bolstered their ranks this summer. In addition to the signing of Cristhian Mosquera, Arsenal sealed a deadline-day deal for Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie.
The Ecuadorian can cover at left-back or in central defence and arrives with a growing reputation after four seasons in Germany. A part of Leverkusen’s title-winning team, he’ll hope to add another league crown to his collection in North London.
Alexander Isak (Liverpool)
All eyes will be on Alexander Isak this weekend ahead of a potential Liverpool debut. Arne Slot’s side travel to Burnley on Sunday with British football’s most expensive signing in their ranks.
The summer-long saga ended in Isak moving to Anfield for a £125m fee, as Liverpool secured the services of one of Europe’s best number nines.

Slot has said Liverpool will ease Isak into action after missing Newcastle’s pre-season campaign, but the club’s fans will be desperate to see the new man in action.
Gianluigi Donnarumma (Manchester City)
After eight seasons with Ederson as the club’s undisputed number one, Manchester City have undergone a change this season.
Gianluigi Donnarumma has joined the ranks alongside fellow summer signing James Trafford.
Donnarumma was named UEFA Goalkeeper of the Year in 2024/25 after an influential role in Paris Saint-Germain’s maiden Champions League triumph. A contract dispute saw him leave this summer, with City snapping up the towering Italian for a modest £26m fee.
A goalkeeper in the more traditional mould, it will be fascinating to see how he adapts to Pep Guardiola’s demands.
Nick Woltemade (Newcastle United)
Newcastle’s search for an Alexander Isak replacement landed at Nick Woltemade, a player who had appeared destined for Bayern Munich earlier in the summer.
The Magpies were prepared to meet Stuttgart’s asking price for Woltemade, a player in real demand after a breakout season last term.
The 6ft 6in striker scored 17 goals in all competitions, inspiring Stuttgart to a drought-breaking DFB-Pokal triumph. In the summer, he won the Golden Boot as Germany reached the U-21 European Championship final.
Eddie Howe on Nick Woltemade:
“He’s fine [for Wolves]. He’s trained well and we’re really pleased with how he’s looked in the first couple of days. Big change for him, big opportunity for him. He’s got a great nature, a great character. He’s very calm and he’s gone straight into… pic.twitter.com/yWmN9vbfAL

Few fans love their centre-forwards more than Newcastle, and Woltemade will hope to become the latest goalscoring hero at St James’ Park.
Xavi Simons (Tottenham Hotspur)
Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a productive summer with Thomas Frank strengthening his new squad with the additions of Joao Palhinha, Mohammed Kudus, Randal Kolo Muani, and Xavi Simons.
The latter’s arrival is arguably the most exciting, with Spurs snapping up one of Europe’s most talented young playmakers.
Simon starred across two seasons at RB Leipzig, where he was directly involved in 38 Bundesliga goals. Still just 22 and capable of fulfilling multiple roles, he looks like a brilliant addition.
