Arsenal shirts with the name of Viktor Gyokeres have become the most sought-after in the club’s history.
Arsenal announced the signing of the Swedish striker from Sporting Lisbon last week, with Gyokeres presented to the crowd in Singapore ahead of the club’s pre-season clash with Newcastle.
Excitement is understandably high for the new arrival, who scored 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting over the last two seasons.
The Athletic have revealed that the demand for shirts with Gyokeres’s name have outnumbered those of any previous signing.

Though the data is still be collected, it is clear that Gyokeres has already overtaken Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard as the most popular shirt selection among Arsenal fans.
Arsenal have offered free printing of Gyokeres shirts, a fee that usually costs £16. Such was the demand, Arsenal’s online store temporarily crashed. The promotion is available until Thursday.
Gyokeres will wear the number 14 shirt in North London, an iconic shirt given its association with Thierry Henry.
Though the new signing’s preference would have been nine, currently worn by Gabriel Jesus, his decision to take the former shirt of record scorer Henry has been welcomed.
