Chelsea are exploring loan options for defender Aaron Anselmino, who will not move to sister-club Strasbourg.
Anselmino had been touted for a move to the French side, who are owned by Chelsea owners BlueCo, but the West Londoners are looking at alternative destinations.
Chelsea have loaned Mamadou Sarr back to Strasbourg, having signed the centre-back for a fee in the region of £11m in June.
The 19-year-old will spend the 2025/26 campaign back at Strasbourg to continue his development, as Liam Rosenior’s side target a top-five finish in Ligue 1.
Sarr’s return to Strasbourg means a deal for Anselmino is off, according to Fabrizio Romano. Chelsea are now assessing the market as the club look to secure the Argentine regular first-team football.
Anselmino joined Chelsea from Boca Juniors last summer before spending the first half of last season on loan with the Argentine side. The 20-year-old made his Chelsea debut during this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.
