📈 Power Rankings: Premier League high-flyers surge in

Our Power Rankings table is back for another edition, with two of the Premier League’s surprise packages entering the fray.

📈 Power Rankings: Premier League high-flyers surge in

10. Sunderland 🆕

Sunderland are in dreamland right now. The Black Cats returned to the Premier League for the first time in nine years this season, but are doing their utmost to ensure it’s not a brief visit. Regis Le Bris’ side sit fourth in the table, occupying a Champions League place, having finished fourth in the second tier last season.

At the weekend, Sunderland secured their biggest win since promotion as a last-gasp goal sank Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

9. AC Milan ⬇️  (last week: 7)

AC Milan have wobbled slightly since topping Serie A just last weekend, with successive draws seeing their progress stall.

That said, the Rossoneri remain unbeaten in eight league games under Massimiliano Allegri after a hard-fought draw at Atalanta. Things are uber-tight in Serie A, though a sleeping giant is hoping to awaken this season.

8. Bournemouth 🆕

Another of England’s surprise packages, Bournemouth are bidding to upset the established elite. The Cherries sit second in the Premier League, despite a summer exodus that saw Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez, Illia Zabaryni and Dango Ouattara depart for big fees.

Andoni Iraola deserves his flowers for stellar work on the south coast.

7. Barcelona ⬇️ (last week: 6)

Barcelona fall a place after defeat in El Clásico. The champions came out second-best against eternal rivals Real Madrid, to fall five points behind the leaders. Hansi Flick needs a response from his side.

6. Inter Milan ⬇️ (last week: 5)

A mixed week for Inter Milan, who were beaten at Napoli in an intriguing match-up between last season’s top two. Cristian Chivu’s side bounced back emphatically, beating Fiorentina 3-0 at San Siro on Wednesday night.

Just three points split the top four in Serie A, in what is shaping up to be another gripping title race.

5. Galatasaray ⬆️ (last week: 9)

It’s eight unbeaten for Galatasaray, who overcame 10-man Göztepe with ease at the weekend. Victor Osimhen and Mauro Icardi were both on the scoresheet as the Turkish champion’s big names made the difference.

Trabzonspor and Ajax are up next, and two wins would cement their credentials in both the Süper Lig and Champions League.

4. PSG (no change)

Things are not quite clicking for the PSG in Ligue 1 this season. Sure, the champions lead the title race, but two wins in six have ensured there’s a clutch of teams on their coattails. The quality in Luis Enrique’s side should see them through, though PSG look far from the unstoppable force of last season.

Are the Parisians suffering a hangover from last season’s quadruple success?

3. Arsenal (no change)

October was a record-breaking month for Arsenal. The first team in English football history to win all six games in a month without conceding a goal. Mikel Arteta has created a beast. Can he now deliver the trophies?

2. Real Madrid (no change)

Advantage Real Madrid.

Xabi Alonso’s side extended their lead at the top of La Liga after an important Clásico conquest of Barcelona. The Vinicius Junior melodramatics put a cloud over the win, but this was a statement from the Spaniards.

Kylian Mbappe is electric right now, while Jude Bellingham is back and clutch.

Catch them if you can.

1. Bayern Munich (no change)

14 games. 14 victories. 51 goals scored. Just 10 conceded.

Bayern Munich have enjoyed a record-breaking start to the season. Their winning run has eclipsed the best-ever start in a top-five league, set by AC Milan’s iconic side of the early nineties.

Up next are Bayer Leverkusen and Paris Saint-Germain in a real test of their strength.
