UEFA Champions League Group stage draw

It’s back! The UEFA Champions League has taken one step closer to its glorious return after the draw for the group stages was made in Monaco this evening.

While the eyes of fans from all around Europe were watching the events of the draw, here at The Football Faithful we’re mainly focused on the Premier League clubs involved.

Manchester City were rewarded for their record-breaking title-winning success with a place in pot one of the Champions League group stage draw and were handed a relatively kind draw, with Pep Guardiola’s side being pulled out in Group F against Shakhtar Donetsk, Lyon and Hoffenheim.

Elsewhere, Manchester United and Tottenham were put in pot two and were handed some mouthwatering games.

Jose Mourinho’s men will not have an easy passage into the next round, with the Old Trafford outfit facing Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus, Valencia and Swiss side, Young Boys. Spurs have also got a tough task ahead, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men facing trips to Barcelona, Inter Milan and PSV Eindhoven.

Meanwhile, despite reaching the final last year, Liverpool were put in pot three, meaning that Jurgen Klopp’s men also face a tricky passage to the knockout stages, with PSG, Napoli and Red Star Belgrade joining them in Group C
