Tottenham Hotspur have a ‘concrete interest’ in Ivan Toney and are considering both the Brentford forward and Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke.
Toney has expressed a desire to leave Brentford this summer amid a desire to play European football and has entered the final season of his contract in West London.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been named as potential suitors but it is Spurs that are showing the strongest interest in the 28-year-old, according to transfer journalist Ben Jacobs.
Brentford, however, are in a difficult position after summer signing Igor Thiago was ruled out until the new year with a knee injury. The Brazilian has arrived from Club Brugge in a £30m deal as a long-term replacement for Toney but will now miss the opening months of his debut campaign.
Ange Postecoglou has voiced Spurs’ interest in signing a centre-forward before the deadline, having failed to sign a like-for-like replacement for Harry Kane 12 months ago. Toney has deputised for Kane with England and boasts an impressive record in the Premier League, with 36 goals in 83 appearances since Brentford’s promotion.
Spurs also like Bournemouth’s Solanke, who scored 19 league goals during a career-best campaign in 2023-24. However, Bournemouth are reluctant to lose the 26-year-old, who has a release clause of £65m in his contract with the Cherries. At present, there has been ‘no movement of note’ on a potential deal for the former Liverpool and Chelsea forward.
