Ryan Giggs to end Manchester United stay to become Nottingham Forest boss

Ryan Giggs is set to finally end his 29-year relationship with Manchester United as he looks to embark on his own managerial career at Nottingham Forest.

Giggs has been the assistant manager of Manchester United since bringing his Old Trafford playing career to an end in 2014. However with new manager Jose Mourinho bringing in his own staff, Giggs has effectively lost his job.

He has of course been offered a new role by the Portuguese manager, but with Rui Faria set to become Manchester United’s new assistant coach, any role offered to Giggs was inevitably a demotion.

Giggs has always coveted the Manchester United top job for himself, a role he briefly held at the end of the 2013/14 campaign following the sacking of David Moyes. He was snubbed at the end of the season with Louis van Gaal preferred to take over, and was snubbed once again after Jose Mourinho was named as United boss.

After much soul searching, Giggs seems set to finally leave after agreeing terms to become Nottingham Forest manager.

Giggs will replace Dougie Freedman at the City Ground who was sacked back in March.

The Welshman will become the 31sr Manchester United from Sir Alex Fergusons reign to take a managerial role in professional football.
