Newcastle slap £25million pricetag on Tottenham target

Newcastle United have slapped a £25million price tag on one of their star players, amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Georginio Wijnaldum only arrived at St James’ Park last summer for £14.5million from Eredivise Champions PSV Eindhoven, but are set to lose most of their key players following their relegation to the Championship last season.

However, with most of their stars signed up to long term deals, The Magpies certainly don’t intend to let them leave on the cheap.

Tottenham are interested in signing Dutch midfielder Wijnaldum after some impressive displays for both PSV and Newcastle, but have been told it will cost them £25million for the services of the 26-year old.

The Daily Mirror think that Spurs won’t pay that, and have already started looking at other options.

They are however expected to conclude a £16million deal for AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen within the coming days after the clubs finally agreed a fee.
