Mourinho slams Man Utd strikers after Newcastle defeat

Jose Mourinho has slammed Manchester United’s attacker’s after a disappointing defeat at the hands of struggling Newcastle United.

The Magpies started the game in the relegation zone thanks to a win earlier in the day by Huddersfield Town, but a first Premier League goal of the season for Matt Ritchie was enough to secure all three and drag Manchester United closer to the race for the top four.

Despite having 13 shots, six of which were on target, United were unable to score, with Alexis Sanchez missing an open goal in the second half.

Speaking after the game Jose Mourinho claimed that his side would not have scored a goal if the game would have been 10 hours long. He said:

“We could be here for  ten hours  and we wouldn’t score a goal — that’s the feeling.

“When you see the amount of chances we lost, starting in the first half when Anthony was facing the keeper.

“In the second half, we had Alexis with an open goal and then we had an accumulation of situations where it’s incredible that we didn’t score.”

He did reserve praise for Newcastle and their resolute defending however, saying that they defended “like animals”.
