Monaco interested in re-signing Chelsea outcast Bakayoko

Chelsea outcast Tiémoue Bakayoko could be set for a return to Monaco with the French side reportedly interested in re-signing the midfielder.

The 24-year-old has failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge since a £40m move from the principality club in 2017, spending last season on loan at Italian side AC Milan after being deemed surplus to requirements by Maurizio Sarri.

Sarri’s departure to Juventus and Frank Lampard’s subsequent arrival as manager has done little to boost Bakayoko’s chances of making an impact at Chelsea, with Monaco now eyeing a deal to bring the one-cap France international back to Ligue 1 on loan.

Bakayoko was part of the Monaco side which reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2016/17 and according to L’Équipe, the club are interested in an initial loan deal to bring him back to French football.

The midfielder previously spent three seasons with Monaco after joining from Rennes in 2014, scoring five goals in 92 appearances.
