Joao Felix has said Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva is ‘always asking’ about life at Barcelona.
Silva has been regularly linked with a move away from Manchester City in recent transfer windows with the 29-year-old having expressed interest in a new challenge away from the Etihad.
He has been an integral part of City’s success under Pep Guardiola, winning five Premier League titles, six domestic cups and the Champions League among his honours since arriving from Monaco.
However, the Portugal international is understood to be keen to move closer to his family, and Felix has revealed that his compatriot has often asked about Barcelona.
Felix – an international teammate – is on loan at Barcelona from Atletico Madrid and said he hopes the Catalans can agree a deal to sign Silva in the summer.
“If I were (Sporting Director) Deco for a day I would sign Bernardo Silva without a doubt,” Felix told Gerard Romero.
“Let them bring him [to Barca]. Have you seen him play? He’s even better as a person. He’s from (Joao) Cancelo’s generation. Now players last until they are 35-36 years old.
“He’s always asking me about Barcelona as his family is here. His sister-in-law is here, [he’s asked me] about how things are here, the weather, tax issues… I told him it’s all right for him to come.
“I don’t think Manchester City will make it easy,” Felix continued.
“For €50 million I would bring him, and for €60-70 million. [He’s] worth it. He would like to wear the number 10. It’s a very important number at the club, you can’t give it to just anyone, you have to be careful.”
Felix has scored nine goals in all competitions since arriving at Barcelona on loan from Atletico last summer and said he is open to turning that move into a permanent deal. However, with head coach Xavi set to leave at the end of the campaign, the 24-year-old admits his future is uncertain.
“I’d be happy to stay and continue at Barça but it doesn’t depend on me,” he said.
“Let’s see what happens next year, I’d love to play at Camp Nou. We will see what’s needed to stay at Barça. I hope for Xavi to change his mind and stay at Barça.
“He has great ideas and he’s a young coach, as here Barça fans really love and rate him.”
