Man Utd midfielder says David de Gea was chosen by God to be ‘the best by far’

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera reckons his team-mate for both club and country, David de Gea, is the best in the world ‘by far.’

De Gea picked up his fourth consecutive Player of the Year award at the clubs annual ceremony earlier this month, as well as being named in the PFA Premier League Team of the season once again. He also picked up his first ever golden glove after keeping 18 clean sheets in the League this season, two more than Man City’s Ederson.

Gary Neville has frequently described the Spaniard as ‘the only world class player in the Man Utd squad,’ and speaking to Graham Hunters ‘The Big Interview’, Ander Herrera has said that his team-mate is the best in the world by far, and his talents are sent to him by God:

“For me David is the best by far,” said the Basque midfielder.

“I have no reason [why he is the best], because I think he has something that comes from god. God chose him in the goal, and God chose Messi on the pitch.

“You cannot train what he did against Liverpool, you cannot train that. You cannot train what he did against Kun Aguero when he had the ball two metres from him and he puts the hand out, you cannot train it.

“You can train when he receives the ball from the left defender and he puts the ball to Antonio Valencia [on the right] perfectly. He is a really good footballer, and you can see when he receives the ball he knows what to do, but he has some special abilities that he hasn’t trained, because you cannot train them, you just have them.”
