Man United lead chase for Bayern superstar

Speculation that Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is seeking a move away from the Bundesliga Champions has been gathering pace in recent months.

The Polish international has enjoyed three goal and trophy laden seasons at the Allianz Arena since his controversial move from the Bavarian club’s arch rivals Borussia Dortmund in 2014.

Lewandowski, who is 29-years-old, is said to fancy a new challenge, and respected German outlet Kicker are reporting that Manchester United are the only club to have formally approached Bayern in regards to signing the player next summer.

Real Madrid have also held a long term interested in the talented striker, and with their President Florentino Perez expected to revamp the club’s playing squad during the next transfer window, the Spanish giants may well enter the bidding if Bayern decide to sell.

The Poland international has netted an incredible 100 Bundesliga goals in just 120 appearances for his current club, and although United already signed Romelu Lukaku for £75 million last summer, they may well feel that the chance to sign a player of the calibre of Lewandowski is too good an opportunity to turn down.
