Lyon set deadline for Fekir transfer

Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas has announced that Nabil Fekir’s long protracted transfer may still happen, but clubs are running out of time.

The French midfielder Fekir has been one of the transfer stories of the summer, being heavily linked with a move to Liverpool before the World Cup, but complications with his medical saw the deal collapse.

There has been speculation recently that it could be resurrencted, as well as reports linking Manchester United with having an interest.

However, Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas has said that while he doesn’t think that the 25-year-old will leave, he has said that any potential deal would need to be done by the end of July:

“I do not think that Fekir will leave. He’s one of the best in France – and in the world, since he’s a world champion. He’s a Lyonais, so he’ll be there next season,” Aulas told Canal Football Club.

“Although in football, nothing is ever certain. I haven’t had the impression that he absolutely wants to leave. He’s 90% going to be at Lyon next season. If he hasn’t left by the end of July, he’ll stay.”
