Lukaku asks Man Utd fans to end offensive penis chant

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has asked for fans of the club to end their most recent chant about him.

United fans were first heard singing the song about their £75m ‘Belgian scoring genius’ in their Champions League group stage opener against Basel last week, a song which refers to the size of Lukaku’s penis.

However, within days of it being heard from the Old Trafford faithful, it was condemned by the anti racism campaign, ‘Kick it out’.

Kick it out said:

“Racist stereotypes are never acceptable in football or wider society, irrespective of any intention to show support for a player.

“We have contacted Manchester United regarding the issue and will be working closely with them and the FA to ensure it is addressed swiftly.”

Now, Lukaku himself has thanked the the fans for their support, but asked for them to move on from the situation and end the song and the following controversy.

The song has sparked plenty of discussion on social media with fans from differing points of engaging in discussions on whether the song is indeed offensive or not.

However, Manchester United will now be hoping that their strikers plea will end the controversy surrounding their club.
