Lucas Perez to leave Arsenal next week

Arsenal striker Lucas Perez will leave the next week according to Deportivo la Coruna coach Pepe Mel.

Former West Bromwich Albion manager Mel has told local media that Deportivo president Tino Fernandez has promised the strikers arrival with a deal expected next week.

Speaking to La Voz de Galicia, Mel said:

“He has told me yes and I have no choice but to believe him,

“I have not known the president for a long time but I know how passionate he is for this club and he will do all he can to make this happen.

“It is obvious and well-known just what such a great striker would add to this team; yes it’s a shame he will not be here for Real Madrid but he will improve us a lot.

“The market finishing after two league matches benefits the big club and hurts the humble clubs like Depor, it is a shame.”

Perez only left Deportivo last summer in a deal worth €21m, but struggled to break into the Arsenal first team, despite scoring seven goals in 21 appearances for the Gunners.

Newcastle were believed to be interested in the striker, but it looks as if he has decided to return to Spain as he looks to make the national squad ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
