Klopp reveals the ‘biggest challenge’ behind the title race

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed his side’s biggest hurdle to challenging the Premier League title this season.

The European champions have enjoyed a stunning start to the new season, and head into this weekend’s clash at Crystal Palace with an eight-point advantage at the top of the division following their unbeaten start to the campaign.

Liverpool‘s impressive form has led to many believing this could be the season the club finally end their long wait for an elusive league title, though Klopp insists his focus is not on the title race and joked the biggest challenge they face are the constant questions regarding the title from the media.

“We don’t think about the title race. The biggest challenge for us is probably constantly facing questions about it,” the German revealed at Friday’s press conference.

“Apart from that it is a completely normal season. We’ve never made it the season where we have to, it is just the season we are in.

“We try to get as many points as we can, the challenge we face is the 26 teams we have to play.

“The next one is Crystal Palace. It is a challenge everybody knows that so we don’t need any others.”

Klopp was full of praise for this weekend’s opponents ahead of the trip to Selhurst Park, praising Eagles’ boss Roy Hodgson and the atmosphere inside the club’s South London ground.

Speaking on Palace, Klopp added: “The home games for them are special because there’s a really nice atmosphere there. They make it difficult it is a special place to go.

“They had not the most spectacular transfer window in the summer, but working longer together can improve squads – especially with an experienced manager like Roy Hodgson.

“They had a really good start and now it’s…yeah. But with the opponents they had it was not that clear like some would imagine. They made it tough for everyone.”
