Elliot Anderson’s proposed transfer from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City could kick-start a domino effect of midfield deals, involving Inter Milan and Liverpool.
Manchester City are set to return with an improved offer for Anderson after an initial bid in the region of £106m was turned down for the England international. Forest value Anderson at a British record fee, which currently stands at £125m.
Negotiations are ongoing, and Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Anderson’s future could be the first domino in a line of deals.
Forest are understood to be eyeing Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi as a replacement for Anderson, who is valued at around €30m (£26m) at the San Siro.
Inter are open to the exit of the Italy international, whose sale could raise funds for midfield targets of their own.
The Serie A champions are interested in signing Curtis Jones from Liverpool, and have gone public in their pursuit of the player.
Jones has just 12 months to run on his deal at Anfield and is open to exploring a transfer in search of a more prominent role. Earlier this month, Liverpool teammate Federico Chiesa revealed that Jones had spoken to him about the prospect of life in Italy, amid Inter’s interest in a deal.
