Five clubs with the most wins in Premier League history

The five most successful clubs in Premier League history, it may not surprise many football fans to see the sides leading this particular list.

The Premier League has developed into a global phenomenon since its inception in 1992, and whilst accolades have been shared throughout its near three-decade history, there are several clubs who have continued to win, win and win some more.

Here are the five clubs with the most wins in Premier League history…

Tottenham – 450 wins

The North London side may never have quite reached the pinnacle in the Premier League era and having spent much of the first decade of the competition as a mid-table side, Spurs have slowly climbed these rankings after established themselves as top-four regulars in recent seasons.

Their ever-present status as a Premier League team has helped them register 450 wins, their tally boosted by a record that has seen them finish no lower than sixth in any of the past ten seasons, a feat only Arsenal and Manchester City can match.

Remarkably, Tottenham are the only side to feature in the top five teams for both most wins and most losses.

Liverpool – 541 wins

A significant gap opens up between fifth-placed Tottenham and fourth-placed Liverpool, the Merseyside club having registered 541 wins in the Premier League era.

Like Spurs, the club have infamously never lifted the title since the rebranding of English football’s top flight, though four runners-up positions and a host of top-four finishes has swelled their ever-growing total.

The current side are perhaps the best of the Premier League era and have registered 12 wins in their first 13 fixtures this season, Jurgen Klopp’s side hoping to continue climbing this list as they seek an elusive league title.

Chelsea – 566 wins

Often regarded as a ‘good cup side’ around the turn of the millennium, Roman Abramovich’s billionaire takeover would catapult Chelsea into the elite of English football, delivering five Premier League titles since his purchase of the club in 2003.

Chelsea’s modern success has seen them register 566 wins, the third most of any club during the Premier League era.

Manager Frank Lampard played his part in this growing total having featured in three title-winning teams, whilst he will continue to attempt to lead the club to more victories from his new position in the Stamford Bridge dugout.

Arsenal – 569 wins

Slightly ahead of their London rivals are Arsenal, who for much of the Premier League era competed as contenders for the championship.

The club have fallen on harder times since lifting the last of their three Premier League titles in 2004, though their consistency in regularly finishing in the European places has seen the club continue to rack up victories.

Arsenal have finished outside of the top four on just three occasions since 1996, however, those lowly finishes have been in each of the past three campaigns.

Manchester United – 652 wins

No prizes for guessing the Premier League’s most dominant side, Manchester United comfortably ahead of the chasing pack having amassed a huge 652 victories.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s dynasty at Old Trafford would deliver 13 league titles, United evolving season upon season without rarely dropping their lofty standards.

Ferguson’s retirement has seen the club’s fortunes diminish in recent years, however, the Old Trafford outfit sit comfortably as the most successful side of the Premier League era.
