Following the weekend’s FA Cup action, we’ve selected our Team of the Week from the fourth round ties
Goalkeeper: Liam Roberts – Millwall
Millwall marched into the fifth round after upsetting Championship leaders Leeds on the road. The Lions became the first team to win at Elland Road since September with a 2-0 win. Liam Roberts came into the side and impressed, with eight saves including a fingertip stop to keep out Pascal Struijk’s penalty.
Right-back: Matthew Sorinola – Plymouth Argyle
The centre-backs will get plenty of plaudits and rightly so, but Matthew Sorinola deserves his flowers. The wing-back ran himself into the ground for the Plymouth cause, while racking up seven clearances and winning five ground duels. A brilliant block denied Luis Diaz a certain goal as The Pilgrims stunned Liverpool. It’s no wonder he was struggling with cramp.
Centre-back: Maksym Talovierov – Plymouth Argyle
An outstanding performance in a seismic result for Plymouth. A new arrival at Home Park, Talovierov helped the Championship’s worst defence shutout the Premier League leaders. Nine clearances, two blocked shots, and 4/5 aerial duels won for the recruit from LASK. His roar when making crunching tackles lifted the home crowd and typified his performance.

Centre-back: Nikola Katic – Plymouth Argyle
A colossus. The Bosnian was brilliant as Plymouth secured the result of the round, beating Liverpool 1-0 at Home Park. Katic was a magnet to loose balls as he racked up 17 clearances, won 5/6 defensive duels, and was not dribbled past all afternoon.

Left-back: Rodrigo Gomes – Wolves
A real livewire. Rodrigo Gomes was the standout for Wolves as Vitor Pereira’s team beat Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. The 21-year-old never stops running, defends with heart, and should be a fixture in this team moving forward. Getting him and Rayan Ait-Nouri into the same team is a problem Pereira must solve.
Midfield: Rubin Colwill – Cardiff City
Cardiff squeezed past Stoke City on penalties in a classic cup tie. Cardiff led 2-0 and trailed 3-2 before winning a penalty shootout, with Rubin Colwill at the centre of an enthralling game. The midfielder opened the scoring with an individual effort before drilling in an equaliser from the edge of the area to force extra time. In the shootout, Colwill confidently dispatched his kick to book Cardiff’s place in round five.
Midfield: Joe Willock – Newcastle
Newcastle’s match-winner as the Magpies avoided a banana skin at Birmingham. It’s been an underwhelming campaign from Willock but this was more like it from the 25-year-old. He was direct, lively and a threat all game.
Willock drew Newcastle level with a contentious effort before the lineman’s flag denied him a second. He was not to be frustrated for long, however, with a ghosted run into the box and a smart finish to send Newcastle through.
After the horrific racist abuse he received online last week, this was a lovely moment for the midfielder.
Midfield: Morgan Rogers – Aston Villa
How good is this man? Morgan Rogers is having a coming-of-age campaign and was the match-winner as Aston Villa beat Spurs to reach round five. He carved open the visitor’s defence to create the first and reacted quickest to a loose ball to steer in the second.
Neat touches and powerful drives defined his evening, with his ball-carrying elite. Few footballers are as easy on the eye as Rogers right now.

Right-wing: Georgino Rutter – Brighton
A perfectly placed header and assist to cap a performance where Chelsea couldn’t touch him. The Frenchman is capable of extraordinary moments and raced away from Tosin Adarabioyo after nicking the ball from the defender. Another lovely touch took the ball over Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s head. It’s now 10 goals and assists for the 22-year-old in a productive debut season at Brighton.
Left-wing: Jack Clarke – Ipswich Town
Jack Clarke has endured a frustrating time since arriving at Ipswich. Signed from Sunderland in the summer, the winger has started just five times in the Premier League. Clarke took his chance in the FA Cup this weekend, however, with two goals and an assist as Ipswich eased past Coventry. He curled a finish into the far corner for his first, before cooly taking a second to conclude an impressive afternoon.

Forward: Rodrigo Muniz – Fulham
Rodrigo Muniz’s minutes have been limited this season but the big Brazilian sent a message to Marco Silva this weekend. The Fulham forward scored twice in the 2-1 win at Wigan, with a well-taken brace earning the Cottagers a place in the next round. He headed home Ryan Sessegnon’s searching cross before steering in a second after latching onto a long ball. Seven goals in eight starts is a return that demands more minutes.
