Everton enter the race for Turkish international

Everton have entered the race to sign Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun with Sam Allardyce wanting to add a new striker to his squad’s ranks.

Everton were heavily criticised for failing to replace Romelu Lukaku who left the club for Manchester United in the summer as part of a £75m deal.

They were linked to a number of strikers to replace the Belgian, with Arsenal hitman Olivier Giroud most strongly linked with a potential move to Goodison Park, although Allardyce has recently commented that he doubts the Frenchman will join in January due to his wife’s desire to stay in London.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Everton have turned their attention to Turkish international striker Cenk Tosun. The German-born striker has netted 12 goals this season, including four in the Champions League group stages. He has also provided three assists and averages around three shots per game.

Tosun has attracted the attentions of Newcastle and Crystal Palace, and could be available for around £20m, well within the budget of all three Premier League clubs.
