Euro 2016: Day 23 Round-Up

The clash of the quarter finals took place last night and went right to the wire, as both teams fought for a place in the Semi-Finals

Germany 1-1 Italy (Germany win 6-5 on penalties)

Germany broke the curse of the Italians after they got themselves through to the semi final stage of the tournament. Arsenal midfielder Mesut Özil opened the scoring just after the hour mark, before Leonardo Bonucci scored a late penalty to take the game to an extra 30 minutes of play. Both sides had chances to win, but it came down to penalties to settle the tie. With the shootout tied at 5-5, Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian missed, allowing Jonas Hector to score the winner.

The Germans will face France or Iceland in the semi final.
