DEAL OFF: Chelsea now unlikely to sign star striker

Edin Dzeko’s move to Chelsea from Roma is now said to be extremely unlikely to go ahead.

The 31-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Stamford Bridge club in recent days. However, Sky Sports are now reporting that the Bosnia international’s club Roma are said to be unhappy with the offer Chelsea have made them for the player, and The Blues are not prepared to go any higher in terms transfer fee.

Earlier in the week the deal was also said to have been problematic due to the length of contract on offer, and Dzeko’s demand for guarantees of first-team football.

The talented striker played for Manchester City between 2011-2016, winning two Premier League titles and scoring 50 goals in 130 appearances.

This news is bound to frustrate Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, who has been at loggerheads with his clubs board over their failure to land his first-choice transfer targets not only this month but also last summer.

Chelsea are now said to be monitoring Olivier Giroud’s situation at Arsenal closely, as they look to sign a striker as competition for Spanish hitman Alvaro Morata.
