Chelsea legend ‘confident’ Sarri will ‘make history’ at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea legend Claude Makelele is confident that new Blues manager Maurizio Sarri can be hugely successful at Stamford Bridge.

Former Blues and Real Madrid midfielder Makelele was so good that he even had a position named after him and won two Premier League titles during his time with Chelsea.

Although the 45-year-old realises that the Premier League is a tough completion, he reckons that Sarri can taste success with his progressive possession based tactics and in the process write a new chapter in the history of the Stamford Bridge outfit.

“I think Chelsea changed a lot,” Makelele said in quotes carried by Tribal Football.

“Before now you have a lot of teams in the Premier League, it’s competitive. Manchester City, Manchester United, and also the smaller teams have good players.

“So it’s going to be difficult for them to win the Premier League. I’m confident.

“He still has good players – [Eden] Hazard is there, [N’Golo] Kante is there.

“These kinds of players give a different story about Chelsea than the way we knew Chelsea before.

“I think he has the capacity to make history for Chelsea again.”
