Chelsea edging closer to announcing first signing of the summer

Chelsea have made their first signing of the summer according to reports today.

The London Evening Standard claim that the Premier League Champions have completed the signing of Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero.

The newspaper claims that they have already agreed terms with the 35-year-old who has been released by Manchester City.

However they also claim that they are in no rush to announce the deal, and will wait until the transfer window officially opens on July 1st to confirm their new acquisition.

Caballero has never been the regular first choice keeper at the Etihad, and can expect a similar role at Stamford Bridge, playing understudy to Belgian number one Thibaut Courtois. Chelsea are short in the goalkeeping department after Asmir Begovic was sold to Bournemouth last month.

Antonio Conte apparently wants to make six signings this summer, with Romelu Lukaku set to be the marquee signing.
