Celtic are set to visit Paisley for their upcoming league clash against St. Mirren, with both teams viewing this match as vital preparation ahead of their Premier Sports Cup final meeting later this season.

Under interim manager Martin O’Neill, Celtic have found their rhythm once again. Currently sitting in second place in the league standings with 23 points from 11 matches, the Hoops trail leaders Hearts by seven points but hold a valuable game in hand.

Their recent league performances have been commanding, registering two identical 4-0 victories against Falkirk and Kilmarnock, marking a significant upturn compared to the period under former boss Brendan Rodgers.

However, Celtic’s away form has been less convincing, having suffered three straight defeats on the road against Midtjylland (1-3), Hearts (1-3), and Dundee (0-2) in all competitions before the international break.

Celtic team news

Injury woes continue to plague Celtic as they prepare for the trip, with key players including Alistair Johnston, Callum Osmand, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Marcelo Saracchi sidelined, many of whom may miss the rest of the campaign.

Even after these setbacks, Celtic have displayed resilience and quality in recent weeks under O’Neill’s guidance, who has secured three wins in his four outings in charge. The 73-year-old Celtic legend, who managed the club between 2000 and 2005, remains in interim charge as the club conducts its search for a permanent manager. French coach Wilfried Nancy, currently with Columbus Crew, is the leading candidate for the position.
