Bruno Fernandes 'keen' to make Manchester United transfer

Bruno Fernandes is said to be ‘keen’ on a January move to Manchester United, should the two sides manage to agree a deal.

The Portuguese international has been one of the most coveted players across Europe in recent months, the midfielder having starred for the Lisbon side scoring 32 goals in all competitions last season.

Fernandes has one again impressed this term and has been in similarly prolific form, scoring 13 goals and providing a further ten assists to once again attract interest from a host of sides across the continent.

Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for the 25-year-old during the winter window, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer desperate to add to his midfield options and solve a lack of creativity that has hindered the club’s prospects in the first half of the campaign.

According to the Telegraph, the Premier League giants have now held talks with the Sporting hierarchy over a proposed deal for Fernandes, with the player ‘keen’ on the idea of a new challenge in English football.

Despite signing a new deal in the Portuguese capital in November, there is an acceptance that Sporting will be prepared to cash in on their captain should they receive an offer in the region of £68.5m, though United are believed to value the attacking midfielder at closer to £50m, while Sporting could also be offered the chance to re-sign Marcos Rojo as part of the deal.

Talks are likely to continue over the coming days as the two sides attempt to thrash out a deal, the Red Devils keen to bolster their squad ahead of a push towards the top four, Solskjaer’s side currently five points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea in the race to secure Champions League qualification.
