Arsenal prepared to pay strikers €40million release clause

Arsenal have indicated to French club Lyon that they are willing to pay the €40million release clause for Alexandre Lacazette.

The striker, who has turned down a move to Newcastle United and West Ham in recent months, is now one of Arsene Wengers prime targets as he looks bolster the clubs firepower.

Arsene Wenger has recently used a punditry role at Euro 2016 to speak to the strikers agent, who is unsure at whether he should leave his hometown club, despite indicating a few months ago that he believed he was ready to make a move to the Premier League.

Arsenal are desperately looking to increase their attacking options, and have already missed out on England and Leicester City star Jamie Vardy, who decided to stay at the Premier League champions rather than make a big money move to the Emirates.

Arsenal also maintain an interest in Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.
