With the future of Alexis Sanchez looking all but certain to the the Emirates, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has started eyeing potential replacements for the Chilean.
The 29-year-old has just six months remaining on his current deal at the club, and has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City for a number of months. He almost made the move to the Etihad on transfer deadline day last summer, but the collapse of a move for his replacement Thomas Lemar, saw Sanchez forced to stay at the club a little longer.
However, with the transfer window now open once again, the possibility of a transfer has once again increased, especially after the injury to Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus, who faces around two months on the sidelines with a knee injury.
Arsene Wenger is now looking at potential alternatives to the Chilean, and according to CalcioMercato, Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is at the top of his wish list.
The 28-year-old has been in prolific form this season scoring 13 goals and providing three assists in just 15 Bundesliga appearances this season, and scored a further four goals in the UEFA Champions League group stage in a group which featured Tottenham and Real Madrid.
Despite his impressive statistics this season, it has been a difficult season for the Gabon international striker. He has been suspended for “disciplinary reasons”, thought to be turning up to training late on a number of occasions.
He has recently stated:
“I have not renewed a contract. In the winter market a lot can happen, also for me.”
It is thought that the Bundesliga side are open to a sale.
