Arsenal agree Thomas Lemar deal?

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Thomas Lemar from AS Monaco in January according to a report today.

The young Frenchman was one of the big news stories 11 days ago on Transfer Deadline Day as Arsenal looked to sign him as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez. Arsenal had agreed to sell the Chilean to Manchester City, providing that they could sign Lemar before the deadline.

The Gunners had a British record £92m bid accepted by the Ligue 1 champions, only for the 21-year-old to reject the move to the Emirates, with reports suggesting he didn’t want to make such a big move with so little time, and while on international duty.

However the Star claim that Arsenal are confident in rekindling the deal in January and have now agreed a deal in principle with the player himself who has finally agreed to a move to the Emirates.

That deal is claimed to be worth a staggering £250,000-a-week and is does not hinge on Sanchez leaving the club, who Wenger still hopes will sign a new deal to stay at the club.

However, by the time the next transfer window ends, Sanchez will have just five months remaining on his contract with the Gunners, which could see his value drop to less than £30m.

Lemar instantly showed Arsenal what they had missed out on by scoring two goals for France against the Netherlands, including this absolute stunner.
