John Stones has said representing Manchester City has been a ‘dream come true’ as he prepares to leave this summer.
Stones will bring a decade at the Cityzens to an end when his contract expires in July, and featured for the final time during the club’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa at the Etihad on Sunday.
On an emotional afternoon that also saw Pep Guardiola and Bernardo Silva say goodbye, Stones addressed the fans at full-time.
In a tearful talk, he thanked the club for everything and said wearing the shirt has been a dream come true.
“I can’t express my gratitude enough. To feel the love you have all given me over these 10 years, it’s been a dream come true. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much. It’s been an honour to wear this shirt, to play for this club, it’s been an absolute privilege.
“This will always be my home. I look forward to watching the games with out all in the stands. From the bottom of my heart thank you so much for all the memories. I hope we made everyone’s dreams come true.”
