West Ham have made contact with Everton over the availability of defensive midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.
According to reports on Sky Sports The Hammers are eager to strengthen their options in the middle of the park in the coming days, and are willing to pay up to £20 million for the former Manchester United man.
French international Schneiderlin began his career in League One with Southampton and was part of the South Coast club’s superb run back to the Premier League.
During his time at St.Mary’s he developed into one of the best central midfielders in the country, which caused then Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal to pay £25 million to take him to Old Trafford in 2015.
However, he was never quite able to replicate the form of his Southampton days for the Red Devils and Jose Mourinho sold him to Everton for £20 million last January.
Despite, the 28-year-old impressing initially at Goodison Park, he has looked a shadow of the player he once was during most of his 19 Premier League appearances for The Toffees this season.
It seems however, that David Moyes feels he can get the best out of the midfielder, although it is still not clear whether Everton boss Sam Allardyche will sanction his sale.
West Ham are expected to be one of the busiest clubs over the coming days, and are currently locked in negotiations to sign another former Southampton player Graziano Pelle from Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng.
