West Ham United manager David Moyes is interested in signing former Chelsea star Andre Schurrle, according to reports.
The 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at his current club, Borussia Dortmund this season and is eager to move in January to secure first-team football. He hopes a move will boost his chances of being selected for the Germany squad for next summer’s World Cup in Russia.
Schurrle of course has plently of experience of English football having played for Chelsea between 2013-2015, where he made 65 appearances scoring 14 goals. He was restricted to just 15 Bundesliga appearances last season, and has seen that drop to just four so far this season, starting just one match.
The Germany international was part of The Blues side that won the Premier League title in 2014/2015 before heading back to the Bundesliga to join Wolfsburg. He doesn’t seem like a player who likes to get settled at a club, having only ever stayed at any of his clubs for a maximum of two years.
Hammers manager Moyes is eager to add quality to his squad as they aim to avoid relegation, and according to The Guardian, he sees Schurrle as a significant upgrade on the attacking options he currently has at the club, and could make a move next month.
