Watford have completed the signing of former Everton winger, Gerard Deulofeu.
The winger only returned to Barcelona in the summer, after the Catalan club exercised a clause in the deal that saw him move to Everton in 2015 having spent the previous season on loan at Goodison.
He was expected to develop into one of the finest products to come out of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, but struggled with the rigours of the Premier League. The Toffee’s sent him on loan to Italian giants AC Milan where he put in a string of impressive displays, and causing Barcelona to re-sign their youth product.
The 23-year-old has been restricted to just five starts in La Liga this season, and has now been sent on loan to Watford for the rest of the season.
A short statement on the Barcelona website reads:
“The Catalan winger to join the English side until the end of the season, with Watford paying his salary and a potential add on of one million euros”
He becomes the first signing in the Javi Gracia era at Vicarage Road.
The Hornets are delighted to confirm the Spanish international has signed on loan from @FCBarcelona until the end of the season 🐝
