Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea race to sign Serie A starlet

Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea have joined the race to sign Roma starlet Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Pellegrini is a product of the Roma youth academy, but was sold to fellow Serie A club Sassuolo for just £1m back in 2015 after making just one appearance.

During his time at Sassuolo, he made 53 appearances and scored 11 goals in all competitions, prompting his boyhood club to make a move to re-sign him.

Roma exercised the €10m buy back clause that had been inserted into his contract when he initially departed the capital city and has been integrated into the clubs first team. He has been handed the number seven shirt and has already made 21 appearances this season, scoring two goals.

His performances, as well as the fact that he has a release clause of just £21 million, have attracted the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea, who would all like to add the Italian to their ranks.

The 21-year-old earned his first senior cap for the Italian national team earlier this year, and is being tipped as one of his country’s future stars.
