Manchester United want to sign both Alexis Sanchez AND Mesut Ozil from Arsenal.
United made a shock £25m move for Alexis Sanchez earlier this week after months of us all assuming that his move to Manchester City was an all but certainty.
However, the move by Jose Mourinho to land the wantaway forward has seen them leapfrog the league leaders in the race for his signature, with City thought to be unwilling to match Arsenal’s £35m asking price.
Sanchez is of course out of contract in the summer, and Jose Mourinho has revealed that he could not pass up on such a ‘fantastic opportunity’ to sign a top player.
“Sometimes it can happen: on the table there’s a fantastic opportunity and you fight for that opportunity.”
However, according to the Independent, United could also move for Sanchez’s Arsenal team mate, Mesut Ozil.
Where will Mesut Ozil be playing next season?
Like Sanchez, Ozil is also has just six months remaining on his current deal which would see him become a free agent in the summer. He has been stalling on a new deal at the Emirates with some reports suggesting he wants to a salary of £330,000-a-week, far in excess of what Arsenal are willing to pay.
Jose Mourinho is known to be a fan of the German with who he worked with during their respective times at Real Madrid.
The report claims that even if United can land Alexis Sanchez this month, they will still make their planned move for Ozil in the summer on a free transfer with Mourinho seeing him as a key piece in his attacking puzzle.
