Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez, and have asked Leicester to keep them up to date with his future.
Mauricio Pochettino is interested in bolstering his Spurs squad and sees Mahrez as the man to do so.
Mahrez is keen for a move away from Leicester and he even submitted a transfer request at the end of the recent season.
However, Tottenham aren’t willing to pay the £50 million asking price that Leicester are asking for their star man, so that may be a stumbling block in this move.
The Algerian winger was a star man in Leicester’s Premier League winning campaign in the 2015/16 season. Last season, he didn’t reach the dizzying heights of the season before. Despite this, he scored six and assisted four in 36 games last season. He made his mark in the Champions League too, where he grabbed four goals and two assists in nine games.
The former PFA Player of the Year is also being courted by Tottenham’s rivals Arsenal and Italian giants Roma, the latter of which are confirmed to have had a bid rejected.
Tottenham have yet to sign a player this summer, and Pochettino has stated his club are ‘calm’ regarding potential moves. But with just over three weeks until the Premier League season starts, we can expect to see some movement from them in the coming weeks.
