Tottenham Hotspur have had a bid rejected for Manchester United forward Anthony Martial according to reports in France.
RMC Sport, who first broke the news of Martial’s shock move to Manchester United two years ago, claim that Tottenham have had seen their bid for the youngster rejected by United.
Martial moved to Manchester United back in 2015 in what was a shock £36m move from Monaco, in a deal that could rise to £57m. He had a phenomenal debut season, scoring a sensational goal on his debut against United’s bitter rivals Liverpool before goin on to be the club’s top scorer, bagging 17 goals in his first season.
However under Jose Mourinho, the forward saw much less action, despite United’s heavy fixture list, and only managed to score eight goals in all competitions. He came under intense scrutiny from the media as well as criticism from his manager who demanded more consistency and output from the Frenchman.
He was linked with a departure from Old Trafford this summer, with PSG, Sevilla, and Inter Milan all being linked at some point, and now Tottenham have made their interest solodmby lodging an official bid.
However that was rejected after Martial showed great form in preseason. He will be hoping to get back to his standards this season, and has convinced Mourinho he deserves more opportunities to prove himself.
