Chelsea have confirmed that their new #1 choice goalkeeper Thiabaut Courtois has penned a new five-year deal at Stamford Brdige, keeping him at the club until at least 2019. The young Belgian made a name for himself on loan at Atletico Madrid for the past few seasons, where he won a prestigious La Liga title in his final season with Diego Simeone’s side.
Upon signing the deal, Courtois said:
“I’m very happy with this new deal, it’s really nice to have signed this new contract for five years,”
“My future was already sorted, but it’s nice to know I’m going to be here for another five years and now I can just concentrate on playing games.”
Courtois is certainly one of the best up and coming keepers in world football at the moment. He’s rapidly building a name for himself, and Jose Mourinho already thinks he is one of the top three keepers in world football.
