The latest on Arsenal’s search for a defender

Shkodran Mustafi, Jonny Evans, Phil Jones. The three big names linked with moving to Arsenal this summer.

However it looks like none of those moves are happening for one reason or another and today the Gunners have been linked with making a move for Newcastle defender Chancel Mbemba.

According to HITC Sport, Mbemba is the latest target for Arsene Wenger who is desperate to sign a new centre back following long term injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista.

They are also interested in signing Monaco defender Marcel Tisserand. Reports claim that the Gunners have a free run to sign the player after Spanish club Espanyol pulled out of the race, leaving Arsenal the opportunity to complete a deal which could be done for as little as £4.3million.

It is also claimed today that despite the defensive shortage at the Emirates, Callum Chambers will be allowed to leave the club on loan this summer.
