Southampton target Victor Wanyama replacement

Southampton finally sold Victor Wanyama to Tottenham Hotspur last week, but the Saints have wasted no time in moving for the Kenyans replacement.

The Daily Mirror claim that Southampton have made contact with Atletico Madrid over the loan signing of Thomas Partey as a replacement for Wanyama, who sealed his £11million transfer to a White Hart Lane last week.

Partey has impressed on loan at Real Mallorca and Almeria before finally breaking into the Atletico Madrid side in November, but failed to secure a regular place in the Champions League finalists first team.

Southampton are preparing to taking the 23-year old to St Marys to give him vital Premier League experience, as well as plugging the gap left behind by the Spurs bound Wanyama.
