Shock inclusion in Man Utd's Champions League squad

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a shock inclusion in Manchester United’s Champions League squad list.

The striker has only just re-signed for the club despite a devastating knee injury back in April, and it was thought that the striker was to be out of action until the New Year.

Mourinho didn’t think Ibrahimovic would be ready for the first half of the season but the fact that he’s included leaves the door open to him if he does make a return.

Mourinho originally said:

“He will not be ready for the group phase of the Champions League, I don’t think there is any chance of that.

“Do we have space in the Champions League list to have him? Yes, we have. So we don’t need to leave any player outside of the list.

“But I’m not thinking Zlatan to play any part in the group phase. Hopefully he can play in the knockout phase.”

Whether Zlatan can in fact recover in time to play any part of United’s Champions League group stage games are yet to be seen. The striker has however posted a series of videos on his social media over recent weeks demonstrating the progress of his rehabilitation, which has been taking place at United’s Carrington training ground.

Midfielders: Pogba, Herrera, Matic, Fellaini, Carrick, Young, Lingard
