Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero is a wanted man, as big spending AC Milan prepare a huge £80m January move for the striker according to reports today.
The Italians were interested in signing the Argentine striker back in summer, and were ready to make a move, however they decided against it after Manchester City failed to land Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez.
City agreed a £60m deadline day deal for Sanchez, but were unable to complete the transfer after Arsenal were unable to land a replacement for the Chilean. Arsenal had a £92m bid accepted for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, but the young Frenchman rejected the chance to move to the Emirates, and essentially halting the subsequent transfers.
However, Manchester City are prepared to make a cut price move for Sanchez once again in January, with Pep Guardiola hoping that Arsenal prefer to receive some cash rather than losing him for free next summer.
According to The Sun, should Sanchez move to the Etihad, AC Milan will launch an £80m move for Sergio Aguero.
Aguero has had an up and down relationship with City boss Pep Guardiola since the Catalan took charge 16 months ago, with Brazilian new boy Gabriel Jesus being preferred to Aguero at times last season. Guardiola has managed to fit them into the same side this season in a 3-5-2 formation. However, a big bid for Aguero in January coupled for a cut price move for his replacement will be a true indicator of Guardiola’s opinion of the Argentine.
Aguero is one goal away from equalling Manchester City’s all time goalscoring record of 177 goals set by Eric Brook, a record that has stood for 77 years.
