Sam Allardyce to be named England manager

Sam Allardyce is expected to be named as the new England manager within 24 hours.

The Sunderland boss will leave the Stadium of Light after being interviewed for the job last week.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce also held informal talks regarding the role that was vacated by Roy Hodgson following the embarrassing defeat to Iceland at Euro 2016.

Allardyce has until September when England have their first competitive fixture when they face Slovakia in World Cup 2018 qualification.

Allardyce moved to Sunderland during last season and was instrumental in maintaining the Black Cats Premier League status for another season.

The 61-year old will become the 18th England manager, and has previously managed at Bolton, Newcastle and West Ham to name a few.
